Zaragosa favorite as Visayas match play gets going

RUPERT Zaragosa sets out as the player to beat when a talented field tees off Monday in the MVP Sports Foundation Visayas Regional Match Play Championship at tree-lined Cebu Country Club.

With Justin Quiban and Jobim Carlos turning pro last week, Zaragosa is left as the most seasoned player in the ranks.

Harmie Constantino looms as the favorite in women’s play that will advance the top 16 players after a 36-hole classification into the KO stages starting Wednesday.

There will be 32 players marching on in the men’s side, and among the bets fancied to advance are Jelbert Gamolo of Del Monte, Gab Manotoc of Canlubang and local hopes Mark Dy and the burly Bayan Garcia, stalwarts of the Cebu CC team in the PAL Interclub.
LK Go and Junia Gabasa, standouts from Cebu, are expected to crowd Constantino for top honors in women’s play.
