MARKY Baquiran outlasted fellow veteran Lennel Diaz to bag the Expert crown in the recent kickoff of the 2016 Philippine Drag Racing Championship at Clark International Speedway in Pampanga.
Baquiran outlasted top gun Arvin Jay Millet in the third round, booked a finals slot after stopping Miguel Narciso and eventually shook off Diaz in the final run to capture the title in 13.538. Diaz completed the race in 14.069.
Stephen Esguerra clocked 14.115 seconds to capture the Sportsman crown over Jeff Licudine (14.5 seconds). Joseph Uy took third place in 15.431 seconds.
Terenz Hormillosa, meanwhile, ruled the Hotstreet category via a double breakout triumph over Jon Matthew Cu. Troy Cabrera settled for third place in the event sanctioned by the Automobile Association Philippines.
