Zaragosa, Pila move to last 8

THE TOP two seeds in the men’s and women’s divisions in the first MVPSF Visayas Regional Match Play championship rolled to the quarterfinals even as Gab Manotoc became the lowest-ranked player to advance after two impressive wins yesterday.

Rupert Zaragosa and Rolando Pila posted two lopsided wins and LK Go and Harmie Constantino did the same, remaining on course toward projected title showdowns for their respective divisions.

Zaragosa ripped Victor Advincula, 9&7, before trouncing Jufil Sato 3&2, while Pila walked over Jefferson Rivera before nipping Pio Barandog Jr., 2&1. Go scored an 8&6 whipping of Renafe Arnado and will face No. 8 Ryoko Nagai.

The 23rd-ranked Manotoc could spoil the Zaragosa-Pila matchup as he takes on the
