AS NATIONAL University fights for survival, coach Roger Gorayeb hopes the Lady Bulldogs got a lift from their recent wins in the UAAP women’s volleyball tournament.
“We’re not yet in the top four; we’re just fighting for the playoffs,” said Gorayeb. “So hopefully, our last two wins have given us a boost.”
But NU faces a tough foe in La Salle at 4 p.m. today, the last day of eliminations, at Filoil Flying V Center in San Juan.
If the Lady Bulldogs pull off an upset, NU and University of the Philippines will wind up tied at fourth with 8-6 records and dispute the last semifinal slot in a playoff.
And it’s not an improbable task. The Lady Bulldogs shocked the Lady Spikers, 25-16, 26-24, 14-25, 25-23, in the first round.
Gorayeb, though, expects a more intense clash as La Salle look to rebound from a stinging loss to fierce rival Ateneo last Sunday.
The Lady Spikers (10-3) already secured the twice-to-beat semifinal bonus along with the top-seeded Lady Eagles (12-2).
