LA SALLE booted out National University with a victory that proved vital for idle University of the Philippines Wednesday.
Kim Dy turned in a career-high 25 points as the Lady Archers dashed the Lady Bulldogs’ semifinal hopes with a 25-14, 21-2La Da5, 25-19, 25-15 win on the last day of eliminations of the UAAP women’s volleyball at Filoil Flying V Center.
The NU loss allowed the Lady Maroons to secure the last ticket to the Final Four where they will face the defending champion Ateneo Lady Eagles at 3:30 p.m. this Saturday at Mall of Asia Arena.
Had they won, the Lady Bulldogs would have tied the Lady Maroons for fourth place with an 8-6 record and force a playoff.
La Salle, assured of a twice-to-beat advantage just like Ateneo, will take on Far Eastern University in the other semifinal match on Sunday also at MoA Arena.
“We really tried our best to win,” said La Salle coach Ramil de Jesus of his Lady Archers, who lost to rival Lady Eagles Sunday.
Dy scored on 15 attacks, five blocks and five aces as the Lady Archers finished their elimination stint with an 11-3 record.
