It may not be a title match but University of the East’s victory over Adamson sure felt like it.
Lady Warriors head coach Francis Vicente had been pushing his players hard ever since he arrived at UE.
Vicente hardly shows any emotions, but on Wednesday, the former national coach couldn’t help but shed tears of joy.
He tried but failed to hold back his tears as UE finally put an end to its misery in snapping a 58-game losing skid.

“Feeling ko, ganito, umiiyak,” Vicente said. “Umiiyak ako kasi natigil na yung 58 games na losing streak, tapos straight-sets pa, hindi pa sila bumigay sa huli.”

UE had a fairly easy first two sets but the Lady Falcons kicked it up a notch in the third. But in the end, it was the Lady Warriors’ time as they prevailed, 25-17, 25-22, 25-27.
“Nagma-mature na yung team,” Vicente said. “Hopefully, next year we’ll be up there.”
“Pag nag-mature yan, totally mature, I can say malakas na tapos may papasok pa na player, matatangkad din.”
