There’s no harm offering something to a greater being, and Phoenix-FEU head coach Eric Gonzales knows it.
Gonzales was steering the Accelerators, who is in their first Finals appearance in their first conference in the PBA D-League, against Café France in the final game of their five-game series and he wanted his players to give everything they have and God will provide.
“I intend to build, sabi ko sa kanila, ‘maging act of worship to kay God, to give God glory, give your best,’” Gonzales said as his Accelerators won the Aspirants’ Cup title Thursday at Ynares Sports Arena.
Phoenix-FEU went up against the Bakers, who were fresh off their championship in the previous Foundation Cup, but it was his team’s fortitude that prevailed in the overtime period as the Accelerators won 88-81.
Only three of his players scored in extra time, Mac Belo, Mike Tolomia and Roger Pogoy but Café France suddenly became a one-man team with Paul Zamar the only one who scored for the Bakers.
Gonzales told his players to give it their all and they would not regret anything.
“Play with all your heart, soul, and strength, that’s all and you’ll have no regrets.” TVJ
