FORMER collegiate star Kiefer Ravena lived up to his reputation as a clutch player, knocking in a triple at the buzzer to lift Mighty Sports to a dramatic 84-83 triumph over Foton Sunday night in the PCBL Chairman’s Cup at Malolos Sports and Convention Center in Bulacan.
The ex-Ateneo standout broke free from a well-executed inbound play, before nailing the high-arc game-winning shot that propelled Mighty Sports to its eighth win in nine games.
“We didn’t play well, but the final score is the most important thing,” said Ravena, the former UAAP Most Valuable Player, who is likely to join the PBA Draft this year. “This is probably one of my biggest game-winners. I hope it makes up for my missed free throws (from the last game).”
Byaheng SCTEX snapped a three-game slide with a 78-65 decision over Sta. Lucia Realty earlier.
Byron Villarias pumped in 14 points while Raul Soyud had 11 as SCTEX coasted to the win and a 4-4 card while dealing the Realtors their third straight defeat for a 4-5 record. Cedelf P. Tupas
