It’s another green and blue finals.
De La Salle set up a finals duel with fierce rival Ateneo for the fifth straight time after it fended off a hard-fighting Far Eastern University side, 25-15, 27-25, 25-21, in the UAAP Season 78 women’s volleyball Final Four Wednesday at Mall of Asia Arena.
Kim Fajardo sent La Salle to its eighth consecutive trip to the finals with a service ace that broke the hearts of the Lady Tamaraws.
Lady Spikers head coach Ramil De Jesus said it all boiled down to the composure and maturity of his players in holding off the Lady Tamaraws, who were eager for another upset.
“Their maturity showed. I saw how they were able to overcome the pressure,” De Jesus said in Filipino.
Ara Galang put DLSU at 24-21 match point that pretty much stopped FEU’s momentum after it went on an 8-2 run in the third set.
It was sweet revenge for the Lady Spikers after they lost their twice-to-beat advantage on Sunday following their loss to the Lady Tamaraws in five sets.
It was a well-balanced offense that carried the Lady Spikers with Galang and Mika Reyes finishing with 10 points each while Kim Dy added eight.
Bernadeth Pons and Toni Rose Basas led FEU with 10 points apiece.
