JUMBO Plastic leaned on the heroics of Jayson Ibay to pull off a pulsating 75-72 triumph over Euro-Med Wednesday night in the PCBL Chairman’s Cup at Marikina Sports Center.
Ibay completed a four-point play to shove the Linoleum Giants on top, 73-72, before Jeff Viernes sealed the victory with a couple of foul shots with 1.1 seconds remaining.
Byaheng SCTEX turned back Supremo Lex, 80-66, for its second straight win.
Byron Villiarias tallied 14 points, while veterans Borgie Hermida and Chris Sumalinog finished with 10 apiece for SCTEX, which outscored Supremo, 26-9, in the third quarter to pull away.
With the win, Jumbo Plastic solidified its hold of second spot by improving to 6-4, while Euro-Med fell to 4-5, after its four-game winning run ended. Euro-Med fell into a three-way tie for fourth with Foton and Sta. Lucia.
Ibay, who finished with 15 points, drew a foul from Euro-Med forward Ralph Salcedo while knocking in a trey to put the Giants on top for good. Cedelf P. Tupas
