Jia Morado was the heroine for Ateneo in Season 77 when the Lady Eagles won their second straight UAAP Volleyball title after dispatching De La Salle University in the Finals.

Her two tosses in the second match were the final points of Ateneo as the Lady Eagles cemented its status as the new power in UAAP.

In the Season 78 Finals, however, Morado won’t be her usual self with a sprained right wrist slowing her down.

Morado said Monday she sprained her wrist, which was wrapped in a protector sleeve, in training the night before Game 1 last Saturday after colliding with a teammate.

“It just needs rest, I can play with the team kasi na tape naman namin,” Morado said who had the team’s physical therapists check her wrist.

Despite the sore wrist, Morado had 40 excellent sets in their Game 1 loss, one more than La Salle counterpart Kim Fajardo.

Ateneo, though, still yielded to its rival, 25-22, 25-22, 25-21.

Morado added there’s still pain every time she goes for a set but she has to fight through the pain for Game 2.
