Seaba U16: Batang Gilas rips Indonesia, faces Thailand for gold

Batang Gilas continued its mastery over its regional rivals after a 113-73 thumping of host Indonesia, to complete a five-game sweep in the 2016 Seaba Under-16 Championship Wednesday in Medan.

Joshua Sinclair shone anew with 25 points and 10 rebounds, while Jolo Mendoza ignited the blowout, pouring 10 of his 14 markers as the young Filipinos took a 47-34 lead after the first half and never looked back.

Batang Gilas moved on to final round and will face Thailand for the gold medal on Thursday.

The Thais hold a 4-1 record with their only defeat coming at the hands of the Filipinos, who hammered out a 101-45 beatdown in the opening day of the tournament.

Batang Gilas has already assured itself of one of the three Southeast Asian spots in the 2016 Fiba Asia Championship which will be held in Iran after its 87-52 victory over Singapore last Tuesday.

Flaunting its depth, it was Cebuano dribbler John Bryle Bahio, who led the team in scoring with 16 points against the overmatched Singaporeans. Peter Alfaro added 12 points.
