Final MVP Kim Dy dedicates title game to graduating Lady Spikers
Kim Dy just used the biggest stage of the UAAP to announce who Kim Dy is.
In a winner-takes-all Game 3, facing the blue juggernaut known as Ateneo Lady Eagles, Dy found it in her to deliver.
Dy put up a team-high 17 points and earned Finals MVP honors, but what mattered most for the third year player is a proper send-off for her seniors.
“This is dedicated to our seniors,” Dy said, tears flowing from her eyes in tune with here happiness. “Thank you for everything we’ll miss you.”
Dy entered La Salle team which had just won three straight titles in the UAAP Women’s Volleyball tournament, but her first two years were not as illustrious as the Lady Spikers lost two straight to Ateneo in the championship rounds.
On Saturday, they got their revenge as the Lady Spikers ended their two-year drought with an impressive 19-25, 25-21, 25-16, 25-16 triumph at Smart Araneta Coliseum.
Now that Dy is emerging as the next face of La Salle volleyball, she quickly shrugged off such distinction and insisted the Lady Spikers would always play as a team.
“Scoring leader? No, it would be a team effort for us,” Dy said. “Siguro we’ll work on pa sa mga kulang.”
