FRESH off a stellar UAAP career, Ateneo superstar Alyssa Valdez is returning to the league where she started making a name for herself.
Valdez, the three-time UAAP Most Valuable Player, yesterday declared her intention to play in the Open Conference of the Shakey’s V-League, despite interest from teams in the Philippine SuperLiga.
International clubs from Hawaii, Thailand and Chinese-Taipei have also expressed interest in signing Valdez.
“We’re not closing our doors, as of now my commitment is with the V-League,” said Valdez during the launch of her Volleyball Skills Camp in Quezon City.
Valdez played for PLDT Home Ultera last season, but has yet to decide on which team she will be playing in the V-League.

Valdez said she had turned down offers from international teams since she wanted to focus on the Eagles’ campaign. The De La Salle Lady Spikers denied Valdez and the Lady Eagles a third straight crown with a 2-1 series win last week.

“If I’m given a chance, I think it’s another way to show other countries that Philippine volleyball is getting competitive,” Valdez said of her possible international stint.

Valdez is focusing on the skills camp she is organizing with fellow volleyball standouts like Ange Tabaquero. Slated to start today until May 21, the Alyssa Valdez Volleyball Skills Camp will have stops in Calamba, Laguna, Batangas City, Quezon City and Cainta, Rizal.
