An MMA fighter currently signed with the Bellator outfit has died after a hit-and-run incident in Florida. He was 25.
Jordan Parsons was reportedly hit by a silver SUV while crossing an intersection in Delray Beach last May 1.
“It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of a dear member of the Bellator family, Jordan Parsons,” Bellator president Scott Coker said in a statement as per ESPN.com. “Jordan was an exceptional athlete and a rising star in the sport. But more importantly, he was an exceptional young man. Jordan was hard-working, dedicated, intelligent and a pleasure to be around. He represented all the reasons we love this sport.”
Also according to ESPN.com’s report, Parson’s leg was amputated in an attempt to save his life.
“It’s a terribly tragic loss and our thoughts and prayers go out to his family, friends and teammates.”
Parsons has a record of 11-2 and has an upcoming featherweight fight on May 14 in California.
