TWO TEAMS that pulled off surprise coaching changes picked up early wins in the Filoil Flying V Premier Cup yesterday at Filoil Flying V Centre in San Juan.

Perpetual Help, even with its unique coaching set-up, stunned National University in a 78-66 decision for a 2-0 start in the preseason basketball tournament.

“It’s all part of our game plan to diversify our attack,” said former player Nosa Omorogbe, one of Perpetual’s three head coaches. “We want more players taking responsibility.”

San Sebastian—which tapped Egay Macaraya as its third coach in three seasons—also downed St. Benilde, 78-66, for a 1-1 record.

Arellano completed the day’s strong outing of NCAA teams with a 92-70 upset of UAAP champion Far Eastern University.

Ace guard Jiovani Jalalon dropped 23 points as the Chiefs similarly stayed unbeaten in two games.
