Alaska star Calvin Abueva couldn’t hide his excitement over the outcome of the presidential race in the 2016 national and local elections.
Presidential frontrunner Rodrigo Duterte emerged as the winning candidate, beating his rivals Liberal Party standard-bearer Mar Roxas and Grace Poe by a mile.
“Ayos yun,” said Abueva, a vocal supporter of the Davao City mayor. “Marami siyang gagawing maganda sa Pilipinas.”
Abueva, a native of Angeles City, Pampanga, expressed his delight to a couple of reporters on Tuesday, a day after the elections, shortly after the Aces wrapped up their training session at Gatorade Hoops Center in Mandaluyong City.
A favorite to win the Best Player of the Conference plum, Abueva hopes to help the Aces avoid a 0-3 hole against Rain or Shine in the 2016 PBA Commissioner’s Cup Finals.
“Dito na makikita ang character ng team. Down two games, kailangan na talaga naming manalo,” said Abueva.
Game 3 is on Wednesday, 7 p.m. at Smart Araneta Coliseum.
