University of Perpetual Help remained unscathe in the Filoil Flying V Preseason Premier Cup after trumping Arellano University, 80-72, Friday at San Juan Arena.

Both teams entered the game with 3-0 records but the Altas would not be denied of a fourth straight win sans a loss under new coach Nosa Omorogbe.

Perpetual’s former foreign import took the reins from iconic tactician Aric Del Rosario.

Omorogbe said the win was all in part to his team’s readiness coming into the match against the Chiefs, the team that beat them previously in another offseason tournament.

“The guys came out ready,” said Omorogbe. “I made them realize if we want to be an elite team in the NCAA, this is one of the teams we need to beat badly.”

Defense, though, was not the best suit Omorogbe saw in his team.

“We are not there yet, they scored a lot of points. This is not how we are supposed to play.”

Bright Akhuetie led the Altas with 19 points and 13 rebounds while Gab Dagangon and GJ Ylagan added 14 points, apiece.

Kent Salado led the Chiefs with 15 points while Jio Jalalon added 13.
