Batang PBA: Star upends Phoenix five

ALAIN Ayrton Cajayon, Jean Capispisan and Ike Jordan Lim each scored 12 points as the Star Hotshots thwarted the Phoenix Fuel Master, 66-60, Sunday in the Cloudfone-Batang PBA 16&Under tournament at Philippine Science High School gym in Quezon City.

The game was tied, 45-all, going to the fourth quarter before the Batang Hotshots gained some separation, spoiling Elmar Marsonia’s 26-point output for the Batang Fuel Masters.

In other games, unbeaten Tropang TNT routed GlobalPort, 100-34, after opening the game with a 37-7 surge. Six Batang Texters scored in double figures, led by Emmanuel Valencia Jr. and Kevin Garnett Raymundo with 14 points each.

Alaska mauled the NLEX, 65-46, with Kurt Nicole Gonzales pouring 16 points and Adrian Joaquin Lopez scoring 10. Paul Mari Salvador Reguerra had 11 for Batang NLEX.

Earlier in the week, Barangay Ginebra dumped Star, 88-68, behind the 24 points of Stacey Tibayan, while Tropang TNT crushed San Miguel Beer, 98-66, as Rean Makvee Relucio fired 29 points.
