IT TOOK Mapua close to seven months to avenge a most painful loss last year.
And it was CJ Isit who stood at the forefront for the Cardinals with his heady playmaking and clutch shooting.
Isit fired 23 points as the Cardinals subdued NCAA champion Letran Knights, 104-94, last Saturday in the Filoil Flying V Premier Cup at Filoil Flying V Centre.
The Cardinals got a measure of revenge against the Knights, who osuted them in the NCAA Final Four last season.
With his exploits, Isit earned the Freego Player of the Week honors.
The Filipino-Canadian guard also headed the Gatorade Best Five of the Week that included San Sebastian’s Michael Calisaan, Perpetual Help’s Bright Akhuetie, Adamson’s Papi Sarr and University of the East’s Alvin Pasaol.
Calisaan wound up with 25 points as the Stags turned back EAC, 87-78, while Akhuetie helped Perpetual Help to an 80-72 win over erstwhile unbeaten Arellano.
Sarr boosted the Falcons to a 90-60 rout of the Pirates while Pasaol tallied 17 points in a 91-75 victory over Lyceum.
