Finals MVP Lee completes triumphant return

Paul Lee finally had the title for his taking.

Wanting no more tomorrow, Lee provided Rain or Shine the spark it needed to clinch the 2016  PBA Commissioner’s Cup title with a 109-92 win in Game 6 Wednesday at Smart Araneta Coliseum.

Lee lit up early, pouring all but of five of his 20 points in the first quarter, including a rebound, and an assist to be named as the Cignal PBA Press Corps Finals MVP.

“Nagpapasalamat ako kay God at natapos ko itong series na ito at naka-survive ako,” he said after a grueling series which saw the Elasto Painters squander two chances to close the series out.

But third time truly was the charm for Rain or Shine as it partied the night away.

Lee also expressed gratitude to head coach Yeng Guiao for keeping his faith as he battled his way back from a knee injury.

“Nagpapasalamat din ako kay coach Yeng sa tiwala nya sa akin, sa mga teammates ko na di nagsawa sa akon, at sa mga fans ng Rain or Shine, maraming salamat sa inyong lahat,” he said.

“Sana may susunod pa.”
