COLLEGIATE volleyball stars will move to the Philippine Superliga starting next month.
Led by the core of the reigning UAAP champion La Salle Lady Spikers, the incoming players are considered the most fancied batch in years in the Superliga.
They will suit up for their respective teams in next month’s All-Filipino Cup.
La Salle’s Mika Reyes, Cyd Demecillo, Kim Fajardo, Kim Keanna Dy, and University of Santo Tomas’ EJ Laure and Cherry Rondina will lead the newest wave of college talents who will try to level up with the club league.
The league has seen the infusion of top collegiate players like National U’s Jaja Santiago, Dindin Santiago-Manabat and La Salle’s Aby Maraño.
All of them will join the league directly as they already played as guests in different teams during their college years.
La Salle’s celebrated open spiker Ara Galang will join the league later in the season as she concentrates first on her studies.
There are reports Reyes, Demecillo, Fajardo and Dy will join forces with fellow Lady Spikers Cha Cruz, Stephanie Mercado and Marano at F2 Logistics.
Laure and Rondina suit up for reigning Grand Prix champion Foton along with another former Lady Spiker Carol Cerveza.
“These La Salle players will not go through the draft because they already played as direct hires of Meralco in the Grand Prix last year,” said PSL president Ramon “Tats” Suzara.
“Same goes for Laure and Rondina who will enter the league as direct hires of Foton.”
