After a hard-fought Finals series, Rain or Shine coach Yeng Guiao was all praises to Alaska and coach Alex Compton for putting up a tremendous fight.
Guiao believe that the Aces will remain a contender for the years to come.
“Alaska is going to be the team of the future,” he said after the Elastopainters closed out the championship series in six games last Sunday.
Compton has said that he has patterned his system to Guiao’s and the Rain or Shine mentor admitted that in more ways than one, the Aces do look in the same mold as that of his team.
“They’re not the most talented team, but can you imagine if they get more talent? They have a system that was partly copied from us kaya may biases din ako. Coach Alex studied our system, and he got some of the points that he felt was going to help his system. So yung sarili niya and sa amin, ang ganda ng resulta,” he said.
Guiao also gave a nod to Compton for his efforts to will Alaska to four championship appearances in the last five conferences.
“With his consistency to make the Finals so many times in his young career and a team that’s not the most talented like we are, it was really his coaching that was carrying his team all throughout,” he said. “They’re a great organization. We’re just proud to come out winners in this series. The measure of success is really what kind of team did you beat, and we beat a really good team so it gives more value to this championship.”
“They are the team of the future, and coach Alex is the coach of the future. As soon as he wins a championship, he would have made himself in this league, if he’s not already made right now,”
