PSL beach volley q’finals up

ABY MARAÑO, Jovelyn Gonzaga and Cherry Rondina will try to carry their respective teams in the quarterfinals of the Philippine Superliga Beach Volleyball Challenge today at SM By the Bay in Mall of Asia.

Maraño and Danika Gendrauli of F2 Logistics will gun for a semifinal slot when they clash with Petron XCS composed of fellow crowd favorites Bang Pineda and Aiza Pontillas at 3:30 p.m.

Gonzaga, dubbed as the Queen of Sands as she has never lost a beach volleyball title, will pair off with Nene Bautista for RC Cola-Army A that will take on Petron Sprint 4T’s Frances Molina and Maica Morada at 4:30 p.m.

Standard Insurance-Navy’s Pau Soriano and Jane Diaz battle FEU-Petron’s Bernadeth Pons and Kyla Atienza at 5:30 p.m.

Rondina, the energetic spiker from UST, will team up with Patty Orendain for Foton, which locks horns with Lady Troopers Genie Sabas and Jeannie delos Reyes at 6:30 p.m.

“We will just continue doing what we do and maybe do a little extra,” said Rondina in Filipino. “We can’t take anybody lightly because this is a heavy tournament with strong and seasoned players.”
