Offseason volleyball has begun as the Shakey’s V-League opened its 13th season Sunday at San Juan Arena.
Together with the V-League, the Spikers’ Turf also ushered in its second season.
Both leagues will start their seasons with the Open Conference.
Bali Pure’s Alysssa Valdez and Instituto Estetico Manila’s Jeffrey Jimenez led the oath-taking ceremonies that the eight teams of V-League and six teams Spikers’ Turf participated in.
Valdez was still in jetlag state when she led the ceremonies after just arriving in the Philippines early Sunday morning after playing exhibition games in Doha, Qatar.
Both leagues’ Open Conference titles will be up for grabs as the two PLDT teams, the champions in both V-League and Spikers’ Turf, did not field a roster.
School-based teams National University and University of the Philippines join club teams Bali Pure, Kia, and Pocari Sweat while provincial teams Baguio and Iriga complete the fold in V-League.
Reinforced Conference champions Cignal HD, Bounty Fresh, IEM, Philippine Navy, Philippine Air Force, and Team Volleyball Manila comprise the Spikers’ Turf.
