WHATEVER the decision of Manny Pacquiao will be, the country’s governing body in boxing will respect it.
That was the statement of Association of Boxing Alliances in the Philippines (Abap) president Ricky Vargas as the eight-division boxing champion has yet to make a decision regarding his participation in the Rio de Janeiro Olympics.
The Abap is counting on Pacquiao to finally nail country’s first ever Olympic gold medal.
The Aiba (international boxing federation) had earlier hinted at giving Pacquiao a wild card to the Rio Games which begins Aug. 5.
“Sen. Pacquiao has already given so much pride to the Filipino people and our country,” said Vargas in a statement. “We as people are grateful. Just his presence watching our boxers fight in the Rio Olympics is already a great honor and inspiration to our boxers.”
