College of St. Benilde broke out of its summer slump and upended Emilio Aguinaldo College, 71-46, in the Filoil Flying V Preseason Premier Cup Thursday at San Juan Arena.
The Blazers opened their offseason tournament with four-game losing skid but their lone win in five games is something to be appreciated for head coach Gabby Velasco.
“This win kind of boosted confidence,” said Velasco whose team now holds a 1-4 record. “One of our objectives nung sumali kami sa dito ay para mag improve kami.”
“This is a learning process for us.”
CSB clamped down on EAC in the fourth quarter as the Blazers outscored the Generals 18-7 to close the game out.
Forward Edward Dixon led the Blazers with 12 points and seven rebounds while Christian Fajarito had 12 points and six boards.
Fons Saavedra, who played his first game in the preseason, had eight points and six boards for CSB.
Hamadou Laminou led the 1-4 Generals with 16 points, 12 rebounds, and two blocks.
