Ateneo dropped the anchors on Lyceum of the Philippines University, 65-58, to stay unscathed in three-game swing in the Filoil Flying V Preseason Premier Cup Friday at San Juan Arena.

A 20-day lay off got in the middle of the Blue Eagles’ campaign in the offseason tournament but they responded immediately with two straight wins in two days.

They are set to face rival La Salle next on Saturday.

Thirdy Ravena led Ateneo, which improved to 3-1, with 15 points and eight rebounds while rookie Tyler Tio added 10 points.

Assistant coach Sandy Arespacochaga said their long break from the summer league was due to Ateneo’s final exams and the players had to fulfill their academic duties before playing.

Harry Nzeusseu led the Pirates with 16 points and 10 rebounds but Lyceum shot a disastrous 33 percent from the field as they dropped to a 1-5 record.
