BACOLOD CITY—It’s on for ALA Promotions’ two scheduled fight cards in the United States this year.
Michael Aldeguer, president and CEO of the country’s top boxing organization and promotional outfit, said yesterday the first event will be staged on July 9 at San Mateo Event Center in San Mateo, California, while the second will be held Sept. 24 at StubHub Center in Carson, California.
Unbeaten “Prince” Albert Pagara will headline the San Mateo edition while Donnie “Ahas” Nietes, will banner the bigger Carson event regardless of the outcome of his World Boxing Organization light flyweight title tussle with Raul “Rayito” Garcia still going on at presstime at University of St. La Salle Coliseum here.
If Nietes wins, he’ll be making his mandatory title defense against Mexican Moises Fuentes, whom Nietes has drawn once and knocked out in the ninth round once.
