Iriga City notched its first win in the Shakey’s V-League Open Conference as it rained down on debuting Baguio 25-22, 25-17, 26-24, Wednesday at San Juan Arena.
Named after the Bicolano spirit of fortitude, the Lady Uragons took advantage of the Summer Spikers’ porous defense converting 37 points off spikes for a 1-1 record.
Baguio immediately slipped to 0-1.
Lady Uragons head coach Elvis Pabilona said his team has finally adjusted to the game in the Metro Manila after they discombobulated in their debut Monday.
“Nakapag adjust na, yung last game kasi parang nanibago sa venue, sa crowd, yung ganito na live coverage, nakapag adjust naman,” said Pabilona.
“Yung sa ensayo naman namin masaya naman kami.”
Grazielle Bombita bombed her way through the Baguio defense with 15 points to lead Iriga City while Shola Alvarez added 11.
Maria Tsuchiya led Baguio with 12 points.
