National University hiked its winning streak to three after dropping the struggling University of the Philippines, 75-64, in the Filoil Flying V Preseason Premier Cup Thursday at San Juan Arena.

A strong third quarter pushed the Bulldogs into momentum, outscoring the Maroons 23-10 to end the period with a 57-38 lead.

NU then followed it up with a 9-4 swing to extend its lead to 24, 66-52.

Bulldogs head coach Eric Altamirano they are focusing on strengthening the team’s chemistry after the exits of veterans Gelo Alolino and Kyle Neypes.

“Winning is not our focus, yung chemistry talaga, yung getting to know each other,” said Altamirano whose team now holds a 5-1 slate.

Cedric Labing-isa and JV Gallego led the quarterfinals-bound Bulldogs with 14 points apiece.

Paul Desiderio had 28 points to lead the Maroons who dropped their third straight game for a 2-4 slate.
