Alberto Lim Jr., charged through the third round of boys singles with a shocking upset victory over a third-seeded foe Wednesday night in the French Open.

Immediately, Lim caught the attention of media in Roland Garros as he got interviews after stunning win and got labeled as the brightest hope of Philippine tennis.

Armed with a powerful forehand and an even stronger heart, the 17-year-old Lim destroyed Ulisis Blanch of the United States, 6-3, 6-1, to advance.

“I played very well,” said Lim via Facebook message to this reporter. “My mindset was I have nothing to lose, so that helped me win as well.”
