PBA D-League: Road Warriors need cohesion

Although loaded with amateur stars, the NLEX Road Warriors aim to work more on their cohesion in Season 2 of the PBA Developmental League (D-League).

The Road Warriors lost several pivotal players from their championship romp in the inaugural season, but scored another recruitment coup with ace collegiate guards RR Garcia and Emman Monfort.

Far Eastern U’s Garcia, UAAP Most Valuable Player last year, and Ateneo’s Monfort join an already star-studded cast that includes San Sebastian’s vaunted trio of Calvin Abueva, Ronald Pascual and Ian Sangalang, San Beda’s Garvo Lanete and Dave Marcelo, and Filipino-American Clifford Hodge.

“Our team is very solid, it’s how we play that worries me,” said NLEX coach Boyet Fernandez. “We have yet to practice as a complete team because my players still have commitment with the schools. Then the SEA Games will be on the second week of November.”

NLEX’s San Sebastian and San Beda players are set to duel in the NCAA championship series starting tomorrow.
Seven Road Warriors will suit up for the national team vying for the SEAG cage crown.

The Road Warriors will see action on Nov. 7 versus PC Gilmore at the Adamson U gym.  Other holdovers include Chris Ellis, Woody Co, Eric Suguitan, Jaypee Belencion, Christian Reyes and Karl Dehesa.
