BALI PURE showed it had more than enough firepower without star Alyssa Valdez as the Water Defenders outlasted Team Iriga, 18-25, 25-18, 25-13, 25-21, last night to move behind the leaders in the Shakey’s V-League Season 13 Open Conference at Filoil Flying V Centre in San Juan.
Reigning NCAA MVP Grethcel Soltones fired 22 points, including four service aces, as the Water Defenders shrugged off a flat start to register their second win in three outings.
Janine Marciano and Amy Ahomiro also combined for 23 hits for the Water Defenders who also missed playing-coach Charo Soriano, Bea Tan and Ella De Jesus.
