NLEX has tapped a familiar name in Bill Walker as its import for the 2016 PBA Governors’ Cup, as per the Road Warriors head coach Boyet Fernandez.
Walker, the former Miami Heat swingman who also suited up for the New York Knicks and the Boston Celtics, played for the Alaska Aces two years ago in the same conference.
Joining Walker in the third conference, which opens on July 15, is Rodrigue Akl of Lebanon who will be NLEX’s Asian reinforcement.
Akl, the 27-year-old point guard, is a former member of the Lebanon national team which placed fourth in the 2009 Fiba Asia Championship.
Fernandez told INQUIRER.net in a text message that Akl will be in Manila on June 18 while Walker’s arrival is set on June 26.
Walker last played in the Croatian League where he helped his team win the title after he was waived by the Heat in July of last year.
