Ben Mbala has been the biggest difference for De La Salle, leading the Green Archers to a 9-0 mark and a win away from the 2016 Filioil Flying V Preseason Premier Cup title.

He also has the hardware to back it up.

The Cameroonian big man was hailed as the tournament’s Most Valuable Player during the awarding ceremony on Sunday before the championship game between La Salle and Arellano tipped off.

Mbala is averaging 21.9 points on 54 percent shooting from the field, 15.1 rebounds, 1.5 steals and 2.4 blocks per game.

Apart from the MVP plum, Mbala was also named Best Defensive Player. Joining him in the Mythical Five are teammates Jeron Teng and Abu Tratter and the Chiefs’ backcourt tandem of Jio Jalalon and Kent Salado.
