Every daughter, no matter her stature in life, will always be her father’s little princess.

Alyssa Valdez is no exception.

And during her grand fans’ day Sunday at Pasig Sports Complex, the princess wanted her loyal fans to know the king in her life, Tatay Roel.

“Sa Fathers’ Day dapat anak ang nag-su-surprise sa tatay, pero ako ang sinurprise ng tatay ko,” said Alyssa. “Tatay deserves the attention and recognition of the fans, and the people here deserve to know my dad also.”

Roel is the unassuming dad, never putting himself in the spotlight amid his daughter’s stardom as one of the country’s most recognizable athletes and is fine standing in the back as the two-time UAAP MVP made volleyball history.

The 22-year-old Alyssa even joked her dad only became her fan in “day two” and it was her mother Pablita who was her first ever fan.

“’Yung dad ko is the No.1 supporter since day two, day one kasi yung nanay ko yun, kasi nung una hesistant tatay ko na maglaro ako ng volleyball,” she said. “Ngayon siya na yung No. 1, siyempre yung parents ko.”

She added that her dad may be contented just by quietly doing his role as a father but Alyssa knows Tatay Roel feels the people are aware of how he was able to raise his daughter.

“Siguro nararamdaman din ni tatay na yung mga tao nagpapasalamat sa kanya kasi pinalaki niya ako ng ganito, na yung parents ko pinalaki ako ng ganito,” said Alyssa./rga
