Third ICTSI leg win on Mondilla, Lascuña’s minds

CLYDE Mondilla and Antonio Lascuña, with two victories each for the season, loom as the players to watch when the ICTSI Philippine Golf Tour resumes with the Forest Hills leg on Wednesday.

Lascuña, who ruled the Luisita Championship and Eagle Ridge Invitational, is playing for the second consecutive week after finishing tied for 11th spot in the Asian Tour’s Queen’s Cup in Thailand (See related story on this page.).

Mondilla, meanwhile, will be fresh off a three-week rest, his two-title streak snapped by that Lascuña victory in Cavite.

The long-hitting native of Bukidnon won the Manila Masters in Binangonan, Rizal, and the Calatagan stop in Batangas before finishing in the Top 10 at the Aoki layout in Trece Martires, Cavite.

Forest Hills will be hosting a PGT leg for the first time in six years and offers a tough challenge to the field with its elevated greens and winding fairways.

The veteran Frankie Miñoza and fellow former Philippine Open champions Elmer Salvador and Cassius Casas are also in the lean field that will chase the P360,000 champion’s purse.

A number of foreigners, counting Philippine resident Guido Van Der Valk of The Netherlands, the second placer to Salvador in the 2009 Open, will also be seeing action.  Musong R. Castillo
