The king is back on top and his loyal subjects gathered in his honor.

Hundreds of people swarmed the streets near LeBron James’ home in Bath, Ohio, on Monday (Tuesday in Manila) to show their appreciation and gratitude for the three-time NBA Finals MVP.

James, who was born and raised in Akron, Ohio, lifted the “Cleveland sports curse” by leading the Cavaliers to their first title in the franchise’s history. The victory also ended the city’s 52-year championship drought for major professional team sports.

Earlier that day, thousands of fans also showed up at the airport to welcome back the entire Cavaliers squad from its title-clinching trip in Oakland, California.

The 31-year-old hometown hero stepped off the plane and hoisted the shiny Larry O’Brien Trophy, as more than 10,000 fans celebrated the city’s first title since 1964.

He also paraded the championship trophy around the parking lot so Cleveland fans could get a closer look to something they’d waited a lifetime to see.
