WSOF pits Philippines against China in the cage

It’s the Philippines versus China again, this time in the cage.

World Series of Fighting-Global Championship-Global is pitting Filipino Mario Sismundo (3-1) against Chinese Keremuaili Maimaitituoheti in the main event of its July 30 card Philippines vs. The World at Smart Araneta Coliseum.

Sismundo, though, brushed off any geopolitical conflict and promised a good show.

“This would be a great experience,” said Sismundo, who bears a striking relevance to Filipino boxing icon Manny Pacquiao.

Filipino women’s fight Jujeath Nagaowa (2-0), the former Women’s International Boxing Association World light flyweight champion, will go up against Audreylaura Boniface (1-1).

Nagaowa took a two-year absence from MMA to focus on boxing and this will be her first fight back in the sport.

“Excited uli ako na makalaro ng MMA kasi before nag shift ako, so ngayon parang double yung excitement ko kasi dalawang taon akong hindi nakalaban,” said Nagaowa who is an atomweight in MMA.

Neil Laraño (2-0) will go up Pakistani Ahmed Mujtaba (6-0) in a match of undefeated featherweights.

Undefeated Jenelyn Olsim (2-0) is set to face seasoned veteran Nayara Hemily (3-3) of Brazil.

Rounding out the card are two debutantes as Jessdan Dela Peña faces Malaysian Kelvin Ong.
