University of Perpetual Help relied heavily on Scottie Thompson last year when the Altas missed the Final Four.

As big as it may be, the departure of the one-time MVP it doesn’t necessarily mean a bad thing for Perpetual Help this NCAA Season 92.

“Mas team kami ngayon kasi ang inimplement namin ngayon yung disiplina,” said Perpetual Help head coach Jimwell Gican.

“Lahat magkakaroon ng options hindi katulad last year na si Scottie Thompson lang pero ngayon we’re going to work more as a team.”

Gican is in his second go as the Altas’ head coach after handling the team in 2011. Nigerian Nosa Omorogbe, who starred for Perpetual Help before, will act as an active consultant on the bench.

Gican admitted Thompson, who posted triple-doubles almost on a nightly basis in his last two seasons in the league, left big shoes to fill, but said the players are ready to accept the challenge of working together to fill that void.

“There’s going to be a system where everyone will have a options and the players will be more disciplined on offense and defense.”

There is no shortage in talent in the Altas side, though, with imports Bright Akhuetie and Prince Eze expected to take on bigger roles.
