It seems like the physical grind has caught up with Cha Cruz.

Cargo Movers head coach Ramil De Jesus said 28-year-old team captain of F2 Logistics is having a hard time adjusting to the younger players of F2, most of whom are her predecessors in De La Salle.

“Si Cha nad adjust pa rin, siya team captain, pero hirap siya,” said De Jesus after their three-set sweep of Amy’s Spikers. “Hindi ganun kaganda numbers ni Cha and in terms of attack siguro hindi pa niya masyadong gamay ang setter.”

Cruz is also playing with Kim Fajardo for the first time in her career.

A scoring average of 3.5 points across two games is bad for both De Jesus and Cruz’ standards and the open spiker vowed she’ll do better, in terms of chemistry and point production.

“Ang taas na kasi ng laro nila [mga bata], so kailangan pang mag double or even triple kung ano ang effort na ibinibigay ko ngayon,” said Cruz. “Adjusting pa rin ako, pinipilit ko pa naman, and buti sa umpisa pa lang nangyayari ang mga ‘to.”

Compounding Cruz’ struggles is a swollen right shoulder, but she said her physical pain is not an excuse for her not to deliver for the Cargo Movers.

“So far hindi ako 100 percent, and aminado naman ako pero lalaban pa rin naman ako.”
