RC COLA-ARMY and Petron claimed their share of the top spot with victories against separate rivals last night in the Philippine Superliga All Filipino Conference women’s volleyball at FilOil Flying V Center in San Juan City.
Four-time champion RC Cola was attacking in all fronts and was hardly threatened in fashioning out a 25-17, 25-17, 25-20 victory over Cignal HD.
Opposite spiker and team captain Jovelyn Gonzaga led the Lady Troopers with 12 points, while open hitter Rachel Anne Daquis added eight for their second win in as any games.
Veteran Aiza Maizo-Pontillas brought back the hands of time with an explosive performance to lead Petron to a 25-19, 21-25, 25-22, 27-25 victory over surprisingly tough Generika in the first game.
The two squads forced a three-way gridlock atop the standings along with idle F2 Logistics.
“We are following a program and so far it’s doing well,” said the left-handed Gonzaga. “But we are not yet in our full potential and have a few more things to fix.”
Daquis agreed: “Because we know one another for a long time, there is minimum adjustment required. But we still have many weaknesses.”
