Mac Belo will be unavailable when Phoenix shoots for its fifth win on Monday in the 2016 PBA D-League Foundation Cup.
The reigning Aspirants’ Cup MVP will serve his one-game suspension when the Accelerators stake their undefeated record against Topstar ZC Mindanao at Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig.
“It’s going to be a big blow for the team. Hopefully, the others would step up for us,” said Phoenix head coach Eric Gonzales.
Belo is suspended after throwing an elbow hitting Chun Hung Ting of Blustar Detergent that merited a flagrant four penalty 2 and an automatic ejection late in the first quarter of Phoenix’s 97-94 victory last June 16.
“It’s going to be a big blow for the team. Hopefully, the others would step up for us,” said Phoenix head coach Eric Gonzales.
The 23-year-old forward is averaging 10.3 points, 2.0 rebounds, 1.7 steals, and 0.3 assists through four games.
Phoenix will once again bank on the leadership of guards Mike Tolomia and Ed Daquioag as it tries to fend off the winless but still dangerous Aguilas squad.
