University of Perpetual Help started its campaign in the NCAA Season 92 men’s basketball tournament missing one big and important piece.

Big man Bright Akhuetie didn’t play during the Altas’ opening game against Arellano University which they lost 83-78.

Akhuetie injured his knee days before they were set to face the Chiefs and the 6-foot-8 import could likely miss a couple of weeks.

As competitive a basketball player Akhuetie is, he wasn’t only feeling the burden of having a bum knee but he also dealt with the frustration that he was unable to contribute for the Altas.

“I can’t stand watching without playing, especially the first game of the season. It’s frustrating,” said Akhuetie.

Fortunately for the Altas, Akhuetie only needs to rest his knee and no surgery is required.

If permitted, Akhuetie said he would play in Perpetual’s second game, which is against Jose Rizal University on July 1, but he’s more likely to return against San Sebastian on July 14.
