Lions, Cardinals gun for share of NC lead

SAN BEDA and Mapua shoot for a share of the early lead, while defending champion Letran tries to bounce back from an opening-day defeat today in the 92nd NCAA basketball at Filoil Flying V Centre in San Juan.

Raring to regain the title they last won in 2014, San Beda opened the season with an 89-85 triumph over Letran last Saturday.

And coach Jamike Jarin’s charges remain heavily favored against a Lyceum squad that started the season with a 67-74 defeat to Emilio Aguinaldo College.

Gametime is at 2 p.m. with San Beda hoping to get strong games anew from forward Jayvee Mocon and new recruit Davon Potts.

Mocon finished with 18 points, while Potts, a transferee from California State, drilled 16 points.

The Cardinals shoot for a second victory when they tangle with the St. Benilde Blazers at 4 p.m.

The Generals and the Knights tangle in the opener at noon.
