McCarthy had to deal with the limited playing time he had with the Tile Masters, as he competed with guys like Jonathan Grey, Raphael Banal, and Robby Celiz at the two and three positions.
“Racal is a really strong team so opportunities there are very limited,” he noted. “I’m very grateful to Racal for the opportunity they gave me. I learned a lot from them just from practicing. But at the end of the day, I just want to get more experience on the court.”

And in his first two games, he is averaging 22.5 points, 7.5 assists, and 5.5 rebounds.
He also starred for the Titans’ 81-78 victory over Blustar Detergent, where he tallied 20 points, six assists, and five rebounds as they finally nabbed their first win.
“It feels good. We wanted to get our first win. We’re hungry and we’re happy that we got our first win today,” he said.
More than anything, McCarthy sees this AMA comeback as a chance for him to show what he’s truly made of.
“I feel in order to improve on my game, I need to be on the court. Even though I’m in one of the bottom teams, I’m able to play and learn and keep on learning the game,” he said. “I played college ball in the United States. It’s different and I had to go through an adjustment. The officiating and physicality is different. Overall, it’s a different style of play and I just wanted to get more experience.”
