Fatigue, injuries hamper Pocari in Bali Pure rematch

It was the fumbling sequel to an otherwise shocking original.
In the first game between Pocari Sweat and Bali Pure, the Lady Warriors who avoided an imminent sweep and completed an incredible comeback, 21-25, 6-25, 26-24, 27-25, 19-17.
On Wednesday, however, the Water Defenders trumped Pocari, 25-20, 25-19, 26-24, in the semifinal stages of the Shakey’s V-League Open Conference.
Every loss has a reason and Pocari Sweat Assistant Coach Rommel Abella had the unfortunate timing of having fatigue and injuries creep into his players.
“I’m not making excuses, tinalo talaga kami, but may fatigue and injuries,” said Abella.
Myla Pablo was confined to a hospital Tuesday, though she was immediately discharged, due to over fatigue and team captain Michele Gumabao is still nursing a recurring injury.
Gumabao has been suffering from abdominal pains, but Abella downplayed it saying his leader can play through the injury.
“Hindi pa fully healed injury ni Michele and ‘di pa rin siya cleared ng doctors, pag pag nilalaro niya nawawala pero pag tumigil siya nararamdaman niya ang pain,” said Abella.
For Pablo’s part, the struggle of juggling studies and her duties with the club has finally caught up to her.
“I guess kasi student eh, hindi na talaga siya nakakapagpahinga unlike yung iba kasi tapos na mag aral,” said Abella. “Si Myla may class hanggang three, minsan four, and training ng six, and ayun nagpatung patong na.”
