The Philippines may have lost another tune-up game against Turkey, but Terrence Romeo said they are slowly getting into the flow of things days before the Fiba Olympic Qualifying Tournament.

Romeo came off the bench and finished with 16 points but they Gilas Pilipinas lost to the Giant Men, 84-76, in a loss that was still considered an improvement.

Gilas lost to Turkey 103-68 in their first tune up game in Istanbul.

“Marami pa kaming dapat matutunan at i-correct, good thing medyo nafi feel na namin ganung klaseng game, sana mas maganda ang adjustment, and sana mapabilis naming makuha yung adjustment,” said Romeo.

Turkey had a 79-66 lead at the 2:20 mark but the Filipinos managed to stage a small 10-4 run to cut the lead to 83-76 with 47 seconds left with Romeo scoring eight of those points.

Still, Turkey’s lead was big enough to hold off the Filipinos.

Romeo said it’s still a little too early to gauge how prepared they are but he’s still hopeful they’ll be ready come the fifth of July.

“Hindi ko pa masabi kung gaano kahanda, sana maganda yung paghahanda,” said Romeo. “Hindi naman agad kaagad masasabi kung gaano kami ka prepared, malayo pa yung games.”
