Will Duterte watch Gilas vs France live?

DAVAO CITY – Filipino basketball fans may rub elbows with President Rodrigo Duterte should he decide to watch the Gilas Pilipinas game as they go against France in the FIBA Olympic Qualifying Tournament at the Mall of Asia Arena on Tuesday.

Presidential Communications Office Secretary Martin Andanar said that there is a high possibility that Duterte will watch the game, be it live or on television.

“Malaki po ang posibilidad na manood po ang Pangulo whether live or sa telebisyon,” Andanar said in an interview on state-run radio dzRB.

Last May, the Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas (SBP) formally invited Duterte to watch the game.

Duterte then posed with SBP executive director Sonny Barrios, SBP board member and regional director Boy Cua, SBP legal consultant Aga Francisco and Special Assistant to the President Bong Go.

The tournament will run from July 5 to 10.
